Be Kind To Cyclist Ride

Join all the bike shops, bike groups, cycling clubs and non-profit organizations of Austin: Bike Texas, Austin Cycling Association, the League of Bicycling Voters, Please Be Kind to Cyclists, and Austin's Yellow Bike Project, Sunday June 6th as we wind down the 2010 Austin Bike Month Festivities.

This celebration will be at the Zilker Rock Garden above Hillside Theater and will include free food, drinks, live music and fun for the whole family.

Listen to the sounds of Loblolly Boy, Castlenova, Minor Mishap Marching Band, Beta Player and more! See which Austin Commuter Challenge team takes home the coveted Commuter Cup. Check out the mountain bike demos, bmx tricks, roller races and fixie play. Come ready to eat, drink, ride and play. We look forward to see all of you there!

Our Mission

Please Be Kind to Cyclists is an organization dedicated to increasing the harmony between automotive and bicycle traffic on Central Texas roadways. Our vision is to influence the behaviors and attitudes of both car drivers and bicycle riders in a manner that induces positive changes in the way both groups view one another.

The net result of our activities will be a decrease in bicycle-motor vehicle related incidents and a concurrent rise in the number of individuals willing to ride bicycles on Central Texas roadways.

"Please BE KIND to Cyclists rides AS traffic and not AGAINST IT. We stop at red lights and stay in one lane. We let cars pass us the best we can. We are nice to our fellow bike riders AND the other traffic sharing the road with us. Listen to your ride leaders! They are nice folks with your best interest in mind. A helmet is always a good idea. You are responsible for your own safety on the "Please BE KIND to Cyclists" Annual Ride."
